It's 4th of July weekend which for most of us means time with family, traveling and an extended break from work. It's no two week vacation, but there are plenty of places so close to us that feel worlds away and help us feel relaxed and renewed in just a matter of days. So, we asked around to our team, "what's your favorite long weekend getaway?" and below are their replies. Have a favorite spot you venture when you've got a few days to spare? We love to hear about it- leave a comment and join the conversation!

. . . . .

LUCY: My favorite weekend getaway is New Orleans, LA or Rosemary Beach, Florida. I like to stay at The Pearl for a long weekend.

LIZ: I'd have to say Oxford. Whether it's game day in the Grove (which isn't really my jam) or a quiet weekend in the summer, Oxford is the best weekend getaway. Dine, drink, shop -- Bottletree for breakfast, Ajax for a nice veggie plate lunch, City Grocery for Drinks. Catch a show at the Lyric, do a little shopping at Amelia, buy a book at Square books.

Also, Natchez is a weekend trip we want to take! We've heard there's a great coffee shop there, some BBQ place, and lots of great history. I've only driven through Natchez but it seems like a great getaway and I'd love to visit THESE antebellum homes.

MARY KATHRYN: Within driving distance... New Orleans of course, but also Oxford, MS! Also, Little Rock, Arkansas is a really cute place to visit.

KENDALL: Smith Lake in Alabama! It's a beautiful huge crystal clear lake and has amazing views! Perfect place for a long weekend getaway.

KATE: My favorite weekend trip is to New Orleans to see a fun band play and of course to drink wine at my favorite little joint called Bacchanal Wine. It’s a dreamy backyard with tables and chairs that don’t match, lights hung in the trees, live music and cheese/wine that you pick out before you get to the backyard!

MENTONEAL

BEKAH: Last Halloween we went camping with some friends at Amicalola State Park in Georgia and it was amazing! SO refreshing, the waterfalls were beautiful and so many trails to hike since this is at the starting point of the Appalachian Trails. There's also an awesome lodge called the Hike Inn that's only accessible by foot that reminded me of a summer camp that I'd love to stay at next time we visit. I've also got to give a nod to Birmingham, AL as their food and art scene are such a fun experience and getaway for a quick trip.

MARIELLE: I've got to say my hometown of Chicago, IL! It is a beautiful architectural city based around the Chicago river where there is so much to do from swimming in Lake Michigan, shopping on the Magnificent Mile, cheering on the White Sox/Cubs at a baseball game, and eating at some of the top rated restaurants in the world!

KRISTEN: For a long weekend I'd have to say Charleston, SC or Mentone, Alabama.

(Kristen recently took a trip to Mentone, AL with a group of friends and shared some images of their cabin and Little River for our post)
