State flower of Texas, the Bluebonnet

• Printed in the USA
• Printed by hand using a 1925 Chandler + Price platen letterpress
The idea for the State Flower Collection came from a quote I read when traveling through the beautifully flowered highways in East Texas near Austin. The quote is by Lady Bird Johnson which reads, "Where flowers bloom so does hope." I found the quote to be truly inspiring and the starting point for the collection. As First Lady, Lady Bird started a beautification project to improve conditions in Washington D.C. by planting millions of flowers. She also was instrumental in promoting the Highway Beautification Act, which sought to beautify the nation's highway system. What a neat lady!
Out of inspiration from Lady Birds' quote, each print comes with a small pouch of wildflower seeds with her quote letterpressed on it. With a dash of wildflower seeds to start, this collection is created to encourage each of us to beautify our communities and neighborhoods with not only flowers, but love.
