Join us for Capital City Lights in Downtown Jackson

We are so excited about the 2nd Annual Capital City Lights this coming Friday, December 2, 2022.

Returning for a second year, this holiday spectacular brings the collaborative efforts of multiple downtown organizations to the streets of Downtown Jackson to usher in a season of joy in the City With Soul.

Thimblepress is participating in Capital City Lights for a second year! We will be open for all your Christmas shopping needs with a Pop Up Merry Menu of complimentary beverages provided by Cathead Distillery. We will be brewing coffee and adding their locally made Hoodoo Chicory Liqueur as well as pairing Old Soul Mississippi bourbon with decadent hot chocolate (while supplies last). Come warm up here, grab a festive complimentary beverage from Cathead Distillery and shop with us between 4 - 10 pm. We’ll also have local food trucks just steps from our studio to make it easy to grab a bite while you walk around.

We also wanted to share a few of the activities that we are especially excited about. We attached a map below pointing you toward live music, holiday decorations, treats, and activities for the whole family.

This year there will be multiple locations you can park, utilize the shuttle, and take part in the Christmas by Candlelight Tour. Those locations include Two Mississippi Museums, the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Mississippi Governor's Mansion, the Mississippi State Capitol, and the Old Capitol Museum.

Throughout the evening there will be faux snow shooting off the balcony of the Old Capitol Museum across the street from Thimblepress between the hours of 4 - 8 pm, along with a choir performing Christmas Carols between 5 - 5:45 pm.

Our neighbors next door at Offbeat are having a huge toy sale for all ages, along with live Dj's spinning tunes. Our neighbor to our left, Pretty Slayer, is doing holiday hair glam! As you wander towards Capitol Street from Thimblepress, there will be multiple food trucks and seating areas available. Mosey on a little further and you’ll reach the Main Stage on Capitol Street featuring musical performances, Christmas stories, and an after-party event for those of you wanting to make a whole evening out of this marvelous event.

Magnolia Sunset Markets will be set up in the Heritage Building (located at 401 E Capital St) and features over 25+ vendors, a pop-up art show curated by Alexis Noble of the Mashup Art Exhibition & Mixer, and food selections from featured Chef Jesse Houston. The market hours on Friday are from 5 - 9:30 pm, Saturday 11 - 5 pm, and Sunday 12 - 5 pm. Check them out if you're looking for a fun time, a unique Mississippi-made gift, and want to support local small businesses & artists.

At the Governor's Mansion, there will be Trackless Train Rides, Photos with Santa, and Tours of the Mansion between 4 - 8 pm.

The JXN Welcome Center has a "Santa's Workshop" between 4 - 8 pm and your kiddos can participate in cookie decorating and drink some hot cocoa while you enjoy store-wide discounts on Jackson Bicentennial Merchandise. The JXN Welcome center is also a toy drive collection site where you can bring new, unwrapped toys to be donated to Jackson, MS youth.

Even more for kiddos, along the 300 Block of E Capitol, you can find balloon animals, face painting, and robotics activities led by The Bean Path.

The Arts Center of Mississippi will have musical performances going throughout the evening featuring 601 Studios instructors and students between 5 - 8 pm. This would also be a wonderful evening to head over to The Westin Jackson to experience the Festival of Trees and go Ice Skating between the hours of 4 - 10 pm.

We are looking forward to a festive night of merriment and wanted to make sure all of our Thimblepress supporters have every opportunity to experience all of these Holiday activities here in downtown Jackson. For any additional details you can check out the event website at www.visitjackson.com/capitalcitylights/
